Embedded systems are complex computer systems that are designed to achieve specific functionality. Their design requires an advanced set of skills that spans hardware and software. Additionally, it's usually required that an embedded system satisfies a set of non-functional requirements including low-power consumption and real-time predictability. The ubiquity of embedded systems together with their increased complexity makes the market always in the hunt for new experts with this diverse set of skills. The field of Embedded Systems has been identified as one of the “hidden champions” of high importance to the German and European economies.
